Default Tullibardine?

Has anyone tried, or even heard of Tullibardine? I received a bottle of the 1993 (15yr) from a dear friend of mine upon my graduation from law school. I was really impressed, as he told me he selected the bottle based on the recommendation from the shop keeper. He had asked the shop keeper for a recommendation for something that even a whisky-lover would not have yet tried.

I was so impressed, as there are VERY few official bottlings that I have not tried, and even fewer I have not heard of.

My initial impression is that it is very similar to Talisker 10yr, in that it is quite peppery, but not a lot else. This is not a negative impression, as I quite enjoy Talisker 10yr. The guests I shared it with were quite taken with it.

For those who have tried it, what were your impressions?

I've had four bottles. Three were official bottlings and one was a Signatory Vintage bottling. The were a 1993 13 year, 1993 14 year, 1988 15 year and a 1988 19 year, respectively. All were very solid, though my notes for the 15 show it to be my favorite of the four. Further for the 15, it was sherry cask aged and non chill filtered. All the expressions were fairly light and delicate whiskies, and pretty complex. Good stuff for sure.

Tullibardine's quite old, but was moth balled for a while there, reopened back in '03 and has finally started pushing out more & more product. I haven't had too much from them, but I did sample a 1966 sherry cask official bottling (North of $500 a bottle). I wasn't crazy about it (didn't hate it though), but everyone else loved it, so I'm going to assume I was the one who was out to lunch. I'd look fwd to trying more from them
