Default Macallan 1946

First post......

I am posting because I am curious to see what the value of this is, I know it is worth what somebody is willing to pay but I would like to see what somebody is willing to pay. I have the case, keys, certification page and the original cardboard box it came in.

If that is wrong to do here, please delete and pm me.

Thanks for your help.

Thank you for the photos! Need to look into this one. I know the 1946 56 yo has a starting price of £10,000 (16,200 USD). Not sure on the 52yo - give me a few

Thank you very much Jojo.

I will explain the whole story later. Again, I am just trying to find out its worth. Just a dominant bottle of scotch that was given to me, trying to find out more about it.

I can post more pictures if anybody wants.

Exclamation Macallan 1946 52 year old

Your bottle pre-dates Macallan's Fine & Rare collection, so is not a part of that. When it was first released, it was £1,575 ($2524 USD) per bottle. One sold at auction in 2010 for £2,400 (Bottle 2144) ($3846 USD). This was a limited release of 3,000 bottles and was created from 5 butts and 16 hogsheads. And, just an FYI for anyone who might be lucky enough to come across a bottle of The Macallan 1946 56 yo - this is part of the Fine & Rare collection, is a VERY limited release of 350 bottles, cost £2250 ($3606 USD) at first release in 2002 and now costs considerably more as it becomes rarer.

There are two tastings in Jim Murray's 'Whisky Bible' and yours - The Select Reserve - is by far the better of the two tasted - by his taste buds anyway.

You can buy this gem from the Whisky Exchange for ONLY about 3400 Euro's right now which puts it somewhere north of $5000!!

Default 1946 macallan

interesting.
I own one of the 1946 macallan reeased back in 2002 but it's number is 372.
I wonder if they started with number 1 then.

I too own a bottle of the Macallan 1946 and it's numbered 470 along with two bottles of the 25 year anniversary distilled in 1974. I'm considering selling one or two of these bottles, does anyone know where to sell them?

Sorry, never got back to anybody in here.

So here is the story.......

My cousin, who knows I like scotch happened to be at a local liquor store and asked if they had any nice scotches, the employee started talking about Johnnie Walker Blue. My cousin said he was looking for something better...and by better he of course meant more expensive... So the employee showed him a few scotches that I already have tried...He asked what else they had and the employee showed him The Macallan. He bought it, and I was the lucky recipient of an amazing gift.

I really haven't looked around since I first posted. Even at that time it was hard to even find information or even pictures of The Macallan 1946. I did however come across a picture of bottle 729 on instagram. Turns out it is a liquor store in the DC area, and the bottle is in a glass display case, out of the wooden case. (I am not sure if the scotch is to be out in light like that or not) The price for the bottle... $13,000.

Has anybody seen these selling anywhere? If so what was the price?
I know my cousin paid nowhere near $13,000 for mine.

EDIT
Now I just found this...
http://www.mctears.co.uk/auctions/lo...errer=browse&p

roughly $4,400 usd...

I might need to make a trip to DC and try to sell mine for 10k.
