International Whisky Competition April 8th - 10th

First Edition: April 8-10 2010, Hotel 71, Chicago, USA

Interested to see how many whiskies end up becoming entrants. Maybe some new off the beaten track ones will be there. If anyone has any other information on this event let me know.

I've had a look at the judges and so far they don't have a recognised whisky expert, i.e. a recognosed name in Scotland. It's surprising to me, as they say they'll pay costs, that they haven't invited and acknowledged judges from Scotland

Just went to the link and noticed that it has been updated and there are now three Usquaebach Whiskies in the competition now.

For a first edition, we consider the 2010 International Whisky Competition was a big success and we can only improve the formula next year!

On our judges:
Scotland: Blair Bowman: youngest whisky expert and rising star in the whisky world - involved in multiple whisky events and competitions
Netherlands: Hans Offringa: world-acclaimed whisky writer (over 5 books on whisky)
Netherlands: Becky Offringa: part of the Whisky Couple and reknowned female whisky expert
Belgium: Jean-Marie Putz: creator of the whisky-distilleries****** website and tasted over 1,200 whiskies in his career
USA: Brett Pontoni: leading importer of spirit and manager of the Binny's hand-pick cask program
Canda: Alexis Morin-Cote: Over 550 whiskies tasted and rated

Finally the 2010 International Whisky Competition was watched LIVE by over 300 people from around the world - a first in the world of whisky competition! :-)
