I have aquired a bottle of Canadian Mist, which is unopened, and is approx 40 years old. I do not know much about whiskey in general and I was hoping to determine the following:
1) Does blended whisky age? 2) Is this ok to drink? 3) Is it worth anything? Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Whisky stops maturing once taken from the casks - whether blended or not. There's no reason why you can't drink your Canadian Mist - it should be fine - although may have changed some throughout the years due to evaporation (air in contact with it). Not sure it's worth too much since it's not a specialty bottling - and you can still find plenty of it today.

Drink it and enjoy, although, personally, I would buy a new bottle to compare the products.

Greetings... Somewhat rare these days. One of those brands made for the US market. The product as long as it is clear and not foggy is very drinkable and will not continue to age. Would be a bottle to enjoy as there would not be many out there willing to pay much for it. So keep it and hold on to it or as the last person suggested. Buy a bottle of new whisky and do a comparrison testing.

Canadian Mist was first produced by Barton Distilling in the mid 1960's. If the label is one of the early paper ones with Bartons name then it may very well be worth money to a collector
