Question Ambassador Twenty-Five

I'm looking for some information on a bottle of Ambassador Twenty-Five Blended Scotch Whisky. Aged 25 years, 4/5 Quart, 86 Proof. Back label says it was blended and bottled by Taylor & Ferguson LTD Glasgow Scotland.

I was wondering if it's worth anything or how I would find out when it was bottled. It was given to me 5 years ago. Thanks for any help.

Haven't tried this one yet and I never really see great feedback on it (sorry to say). Found these notes for you on the net...

Develops very harmoniously on light honey, camomile, pollen… Also lots of organics, wet hay. Really complex. Mouth: sweet and slightly smoky start, alas lacking a little more body and oomph.

Some notes of burnt cake but not much else, with a rather short finish. The nose was extraordinary and the mouth quite disappointing, but the whole experience quite a thrill.

Now you have me curious - let me know your thoughts after you try it.

I have no plans on opening it up. It was my grandmothers second husbands. He had been deceased about 10 years when she gave it to me. I'm just curious about how to read the pink label over the cap to see when it was bottled. Thanks for the info.

Default Need information

Trying to find out some information myself. Just was turned on to a "FULL QUART" Ambassador Deluxe. Nothing about 25yr though. The person that gave it to me recived it from her dad 30 years ago and it was old then. Never opened, the old tax label on the cork showing Quality Importers, Inc. New York, NY.

Arrow Ambassador Blended Scotch

Taylor & Ferguson produced a range of ages of Ambassador Blended Scotch from 8, 10, 12, 21 and 25 year olds. This was mainly an export brand I think to Europe and other countries.

For anyone looking for a value, we suggest you contact Martin Green (a small fee is usually required). You can reach him at:

Default Ambassador 25

I have a bottle of 25yr Ambassador Blended by Taylor & Ferguson. It is still sealed and has an Illinois state seal as well. This was my Great Grandfathers I am estimating its purchase date to be in the late 1930's to early 1940's. Is it still good? How much longer should I store it? Is there an estimated value?

Did you ever find out the value of your Ambassador? I, too, have the same bottle that was given to me recently. Just wondering what the going rate would be on this product. My e-mail address is buffaloduo@scrtc.com
Thanks.

We were told that the bottle of 25 yr. Ambassador to be around $100 - $150 and is estimated to be dated from around "post" prohibition, possibly 30s, early 40s.

I have 3 bottles of it, 750 ml. No date. Yes, 25 years, 86 proof. I regret to say there is absolutely nothing special about its taste. It contains Highland, Speyside, & Islay malts plus grain whiskies. Very little, if any smoke. With this blend and 25 years in the barrel, one expects a lot more. Johnnie Walker Gold 18 yr old is light years better. I drink the Ambassador neat. I paid only $20 per bottle. And you paid nothing. So open it. It's decent. Enjoy it. In short, there's nothing special or distinguished about its taste in my view. I doubt it will be a collector's item. Best, Mark.

Price range is between $52-$75 per fifth. I have 3 bottles. Maybe others do, but I do not
find this a distinctive Scotch. There is little interesting about its taste. I doubt it will ever be a collector's item; and, for my money, it is not in the league with many Scotches of less age.

The Google search I did also came up with a very low number for value in spite of the age! The price range was comparable to that listed in this post!

Default Ambassador

Ambassador was produced and sold in the USA until the late 1970's by Hiram Walker and to disagree with Martin Green they only sold it in 4, 8, 12, and 25yo ages together with an 8yo liqueur version for the New York area.

The brand was reintroduced in the mid 1990's under licence and only for the East Coast so these may have included a 10yo version. These bottles had a different label so photo's would help to verify which age they were.

As a rule the Bloch Brothers are the oldest followed by Taylor Ferguson but the reintroduction also has this name on the label so label design is the best bet at aging them

Hi, I found 19 bottles of 25-Yr-Old Ambassador at auction since 2007 with the hammer price from $24.00 to $170.00. Five of the nineteen bottles fetched $100+. All were packaged in its individual box.

Default Mine is different

This was gifted to me in the 70's.
The state tax was .40 cents. It also ohas the pink federal label over the seal. The distilleries listed on bottle are Glen Scotia, Argyll and Scapa, Kirkwall. Included with the bottle with it's original box and tissue is an envelope containing a strip of "23 kt. Magic Gold foil especially developed for use in personalizing your bottle of world famous AMBASSADOR 25 YEAR OLD SCOTCH WHISKEY". It also includes directions for application of label.

Should I open and enjoy or gift it to another?

Thumbs up I too have an Ambassador Blended Scotch Whiskey

I received this as a gift in original packaging.

Ambassador Blended Scotch Whisky (Deluxe Blend)
Blended and Bottled by Taylor & Ferguson Ltd.

4/5 Quart
86 Proof
Imported by Quality Importers Inc New York NY

Just want to know how old the bottle actually is and todays value.

Packaging on this bottle is very intersting.
One side had the following
ST VVAD AR D:
The opposite side has
TVR: HIC:B

Cartoonish look with people at battling in war with Armour and swords.

I can't seem to upload the pics thou.

You may email me olleyhead@yahoo.com if you have any info which would greatly be appreciated.

thx

Question Ambassador 25 Yr Blended Scotch Whisky

I have a case of the 25 yr old blended scotch whisky that has never been opened since its purchase in 1951. Here is a photo of the crate. Thread comments have priced a single bottle at around US100-150; does an entire unopened case raise the per bottle value? Anyone differ on the valuation? I appreciate any info and hope the picture is helpful.
**UPDATE** Photo's added. The gentlemen we got this from loaned us one of the bottles from a sister crate he kept. Helps with the value estimate, eh? The size of the pictures is for clarity of view. Thanks for any info everyone![IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG][IMG][/IMG]

Default Bloch Bros Ambassador "Presentation Selection"

Hello: Is there any value to a Ambassador 4/5 qt , 86 proof bottled by Bloch Bros but with a label Presentation Selection label on back with "specially chosen for..." or could this have been attached by a gift giver? I know the bottle is at least 30-50 yrs old

Wink Ambassador Twenty-Five

This is intended for the Ambassador Twenty-Five thread....

I just want to buy a bottle for drinking purposes; last time I had it was 1976 and IMHO it far exceeded Ballantine 30 Year Old. I never thought it would stop being produced!

Any help posted here will be greatly appreciated.

Zedekiah - If all the bottles have the gold closure then I'd be VERY careful about drinking it as NO Ambassador was sold with that closure, that closure is from a modern [since the 1960/70's] pottery jug . If you look at the neck you can see where the foil capsule originally was which should have sealed a white [sometimes gold] plastic ribbed cap, or in early bottles a cork.

The label is one that was used from the late 30's through to the mid/late 50's when the label chaged markedly.

There are only 2 ways to date these bottles, first check the side of the label and see if there are some small straight cuts. These ar the date codes but you need a special card reader [old fashioned - it was either a flat cardboard or plastic card] and I'm told that none still exist at the company. The other way is that sometimes they date stamped the back of the front label so shine a light see through the bottle and check.

Most attempt sale from $50-$150. Probably 40 or more yrs old. The age much improves the taste.

We too have a bottle of this whisky, complete with a PA Liquor Control Board label numbered 65051952 and dated 1971-1972; also has a sealing label from the Jos. Garneau Co, Louisville, KY. Bottle also has a multi-colored ribbon looped around the bottle neck and fastened in front by a photo of an older gentleman (possibly Mr. Garneau?) My parents gave it to us in 2001, haven't opened it. What is the shelf life? Also, what value now?
