Default Value/Age Of Unopened Bottle Of John Begg?

Hi, folks. I'll be honest. I only registered here looking for an answer.

I'm not really a fan of whiskey, but I have this bottle from when my grandfather passed away. It's unopened, still has the tax stamp band around the top/cap of the bottle and it's still intact. 1 liter, 86 proof. Apparently they're out of business, but did make newer versions of this blend - Blue Cap. Trying to find out if it's worth anything or if I should just give it away. Can't seem to find too much information.

Thanks. Happy New Years

John Begg is/was part of Diageo so the brand may be sold somewhere in the world as a secondary brand. There's no real monetary value to the bottle as it's not that old and a blend.

Default John Begg

WhiskeyNoob,

I have to agree with blenderm on this one...this bottle is from the mid-1980's
and is worth about $30-$35 USD at this time.

Blend like this rarely go up in value, until they hit a point about 50 years after
being bottled...The whisky inside does not "mature" like a wine would, but at
50 years the buyers are looking at it for simple age-value as an old item.

Cheers,
