I met a fellow Scotch drinker the other day, and he goes on to tell me how he used to drink Lagavulin, Bunnahabhain, and other premium single malts, but now he almost exclusively drinks one blend: Robert Burns.
Well, I have been looking for that mythical concoction, the cheap blend that tastes great, so I figured, "why not? It's just $20." Yeacht!! Gack! Thhhbbbbttt!!! That was me trying to purge my mouth after I tasted this "whisky". Now to figure out what to do with a bottle of the stuff. A few days later I am sitting at home, and think perhaps I found a use for 'ol Burnsy. I had already had one glass of Laga 16, then another of Ardbeg Uigeadail, and thought switching to Burnsy after those two monsters might be the perfect trick. No dice. It was still terrible. I poured it down the drain. What do you do with terrible whisky purchases? Which bottles do you wish you never tried? |

Give it to someone who doesn't know a thing about good whiskey and tell them it tastes great with coke.

In the words of the prophet "you gets what you pay for"
If I've been given a poor blend [or single malt] I'll either give it away [best way to go] or I'll buy a more expensive, premium, one and mix the 2 together |

I would've probably put ice in it and used it as an alcoholic beverage and not drunk it as scotch.

I just bought what i hoped would be an interesting blend. A Laing bottling called Double Barrel. It is a single cask of Mortlach blended with a single cask of Laphroaig. I had high hopes as i am speyside guy slowly and eagerly entering the world of islay. But all I can say is eeeewwwwww! Positively dreadful. The nose is reminiscent of smoked rotten vegetables. Taste is completely empty and devoid of character.
So very disappointed. I had to drain my sorrows with Hazelburn 12 |

It's not scotch, but have you guys tried Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey? It's pretty good and unique too I think.
On a side note I had a Highland Park 12 last night and mmmmm |

Put that dram into a big glass. Fill the remainder with ginger ale. Done!
