I have a bottle of 1982 Glenrothes that I'm quite fond of. Depending on where you live, there might be a store nearby that has, or can get, single cask bottlings, which usually note the distillation date on the label. I am thinking of stores such as Binny's in Chicago or The Party Source in the Cincinnati area. Companies to look for would include Gordon & MacPhail, Duncan Taylor, Signatory, and John McDougall -- all offer excellent "unofficial" bottlings that cover the full range of regions and styles - including your husband's preference, I'm sure. Good luck!
