This is my exact thought as well. The Dalwhinnie is just so delicate and subtle that I find it boring. I need a bit more "oomph" in my whisky.

In fact, I find the Doublewood to be on the very low end of my range of "good" whiskies. It and the Macallan 12yr are "almost" too subtle for my tastes.

For my money, if I wanted a double-casked Speyside/Highland whisky, I would go with the 16yr Aberlour Double Cask. It is fantastic, and only a couple dollars more than the Balvenie 12yr Doublewood. I think I have a review posted of it on this forum.
