Whilst clearing my girlfriends grandmother's house recently we found a bottle of blended whiskey. I know nothing about it other than it looks old! It was blended, bottled and sold by a company called John Lukey and Sons from Dover, England. there is no date on the bottle. I have done my own internet research but have found no listings of their actual products, only a little of the family business importing wines and spirits.

The label states that it is a ''Gold Medal Blend'' and was awarded the gold medal at the Bordeaux Exposition in 1907 and that its 70% proof. Would it be safe to assume that it is from around the early 1900's??

Also at the bottom of the label is the ''Analysis'' this reads:

I hereby certify that i have submitted to a careful chemical analysis a sample of Lukey's blend of scotch whiskey as sold by them, which i find to be a stimulant of very excellent character produced from the finest scotch whiskies only, and thoroughly matured by age. It contains a considerable proportion of ethers in solution, which inpart to it an appetising flavour and aroma, and largly improve the qualities of the whiskey. I can bear testimony as to the high class nature of this spirit.
