It is highly unlikely that it was "privately distilled for the Nevis Estate"
as Macallan pumped out thousands of bottles of 1980 18-Year-Old. It is possible that the Nevis Estate bought a cask of 1980 and then had it bottled with their label and the statement, "privately distilled for the Nevis Estate"
, if printed on the label, is probably nothing but puffery which is common on scotch whisky labels for the purpose of selling the product. Bonham's or McTear's can valuate.
