Default Macallan 25 Year Old Aged in Sherry Oak

i had 350 in gift cards, so i figured id pony up the rest and try this beast out. i had tried the macallan 25 year old previously, but as a limited edition silver anniversary edition, and that was beyond amazing. so i was in contact with the macallan trying to get ahold of that particular bottle, but in canada the lcc(liquor control comission) controls all alcohol and we cant buy from any outside sources other than them, which brings me to this particular bottle.

when i cracked the 25 yr old, i was expecting a similar taste to before, but it was completely different. this is a more subdued whiskey, it is superb, but more of a well balanced perfect whisky than something robustly spectacular. you get a slight hint of caramel, peat, honestly i think i can taste the still LOL, honestly i cant distinguish any more tase characters, its too balanced if that makes sense! i cant explain it. also for a 25 yr old, it was not exactly the smoothest, i was kinda disapointed to be honest, i was expecting more from this bottle due to the amount it cost, but without a doubt it is beautiful.

i have only had 2 shots last night from this bottle and maybe i was let down thinking i didnt get what i wanted so ill post once more with my second shot.
