There are many different opinions on how long the taste of the whisky will go unchanged. So if you decide to drink your Scotch, nose it and decide from there. It will likely be fine, but there's always that possibility the taste may have changed a bit throughout the years. Another option you have is to keep it in tact for as long as possible as an investment, or in your situation, keep it as as a reminder of a great gift from grandma!
