I have been going through my first bottle of the Rocks and while I do appreciate the 46% ABV, I cannot say that this particular Bruichladdich edition is anything special, the whisky striking me as rather young and lacking in character. In fact for basically the same amount of cash, I note your Bunnahabhain 12 avatar, a bottle that is also 46% ABV and superior to the Rocks IMO. They're both non-peated Islay releases.
The only other Bruichladdich edition that I've been able to find here in small, out of the way liquor stores in southeast Florida is the Links 14 year Augusta 16th hole and it is quite excellent IMO. Unfortunately, all the Links editions with their brightly decorated presentations of various golf course holes on the tin cases have become collectors items. I have been able to find and purchase two more Augusta 16s which I hope to savor only on special occasions with like minded company. In all probability however, I'll imbibe them a lot sooner.
