There is a huge Craft Beer scene going on right now in the states and alot of micro-breweries are popping up everyday. Its been like that for the last yrs and a few of them have been putting out there own whiskys. This one is from Charbay(they are a Whisky Distillery) , now Charbay puts out a few whiskys but for this one and another one in there series, they teamed up with a brewery called Bear Republic out of Cali. to make this whiksy using the same stills that Bear Republic makes their beer called Big Beer Stout(which is delicious) out of. So that this whisky would pick up some of the favors from the beer and incorporate it into the whisky. So here is a quick review of the whisky.
Nose- Honey, Hops, Oats, Herbs- Not really to pleasant. Very Very strong. you can smell it across the room
Color- light golden, ,very thin in the glass, just falls down the sides.
Taste- sweet, honey, malts, vanilla, spice but not sherry spice more minty.
Finish- short, rum taste but not really dry. not kick at the end.
Overall not a bad whisky but a odd ball whisky. the taste to pretty good. The only real negative is the nose. I don't enjoy smelling it and that is a big part of my whisky tasting. A whisky has to to have a pleasant nose to it, to invite you to drink it or I might as well be just taking be shots with it.
I am gonna take me time and see if this change over time.So I will come back to this in a few days.
