Intro to Peat
I'm fairly new to single malt scotch but really enjoy it and am looking to expand my horizons. In the last few months I've gone through a bottle of Macallan 12, Glenlivet 12 and am working through a Glenmorangie 10. I generally like them in that order - loved the Macallan, thought the Glenlivet was fantastic for the price and think the is tasty just a little less so.
Since those are all fairly lacking in peat, I wanted to ask the fine folks on this forum what you would recommend for an introduction to a scotch with a more prominent peat taste. I've tried the Laphroag 10 in a restaurant and just think it's so far to that end of the scale that I don't fully appreciate it yet. If you have a recommendation for something more subtle than that, but a bit more adventurous than the Glenlivets of the world I would love to hear your thoughts. As long as I'm still building up my palate I wouldn't mind keeping the price range around US$40 or US$50. Thanks in advance.
