Well folks, I popped to ASDA, they didn't have the Glenfiddich miniature pack. They've always had them before though, doh!
I took a chance though and just picked up the Glenfiddich 12 Year Old 35cl bottle. My thoughts: Revolting. I just did not enjoy it (neat) at all! Having it with ice was something just really extra disgusting.
I don't really know what to say guys. I feel like my taste buds are giving me mixed signals. I didn't even like the nose at all. When I drink it, I feel like I'm chewing and sucking on the cork lid from the bottle. It tastes bitter and woody. Lovely bottle / tube though I must say.
On the Master of Malt site, their tasting notes
just didn't sound like anything I was sipping. I felt too dominated by the oak and a very bitterness. It makes me really cringe and want to gag (both nose and taste).
I was planning on getting some mini bottles from justminiatures.co.uk. I wanted to start with the low end brands and a couple slightly higher ones. I had these in my basket:
Jim Beam Bourbon
Jack Daniels Tennessee
Old Pulteney 12yr Single Malt
Isle of Jura 10yr Single Malt
Laphroaig 10yr Single Malt
Glenlivet 12yr Single Malt
I really don't know what to try now though.
That Glenfiddich taste / nose is something I wish to completely avoid. The thought of it makes me cringe still.
I hope I'm not rambling on, but if anyone can now suggest me some other miniatures, feel free. I wouldn't really want to spend more then £5 per mini (in reflection to what a full size would be). Please bare in mind strongly my feelings of this Glenfiddich when suggesting.
If you go here:
In the drop down 'Miniature Spirits & Liqueurs you can see the whiskys available. Please suggest some folks. I want to place an order before June (10% off).
