Someone that has followed the Royal Salute over time will have to chime in here.
I believe that there were never more than 4 or 5[at most] colors for their bottles but I'm thinking of time back in the late 70's or early 80's as a time frame.
I haven't held one in a looooooong time but I believe they are still a ceramic rather than glass but I could be wrong.
Having or not having a tax stamp might help in the dating but I[personally] don't think it drives any special value - just my opinion.
I went and did some searches and the regular[mass produced bottles] were red[ruby],blue and green. Brown was available for a period of time and there were some special bottlings to commemorate several events and black was one of them but that is all I could find. The Royal Satute as you know is a 21 year blend started in 1953 to honor Queen Elizabeth and the 21 was for the 21 gun salute for persons of honor.
