I'm lucky. My wife is a big fan of Crate and Barrel. We purchased the Rojo bookshelf, then I added some CabLED lights with 5 levels of brightness.
Overall, I'm very happy. It’s a beast with some serious load bearing capability and the black shelves look great in the evening.
If I had a bigger budget, I'd go for thick glass shelves and incandescent lights. When I first started keeping whisky in places other than the pantry, I took space in my wifes china cabinet (glass shelves, old school lights). The light coming from above and below make for some fantastic shades of amber.
