It sounds more like a coincidence that you're seeing bottles of whisky with no age statement and non-chillfiltered. All of these have age statements and mention non-chillfiltered: Ardbeg 10, Bowmore 16 Limited Edition, Benriach 15 wood finishes. And by the way, not to discount what you were told regarding nothing less than a 10 year to be a good whisky.....friend and whisky expert Tom says - "NO WAY! For example the “young” series Ardbegs at 7-9 yrs, the PC5-6-7-8 series, a fantastic 6 yr old “Badger” (Bruichladdich) I picked up from Milroy’s, the new Kilchoman, which I actually tried at less than 3 years, and let’s not forget about McCarthy’s from Oregon (3 yrs I think)."
