My favorite Laphroaig is the Cask Strength 10 yr. Huge smoke, huge spice, huge everything. If you didnt like Laga 16 or Ardbeg Uig, you'll hate this one! It's a diesel locomotive of a Scotch!

Disclaimer upfront...islay fan here

Still novice whisky drinker here, totally dedicated to Islay, and love the massive peat monsters like Ardbeg Uigeadail and Supernova 2010, Laphroaig Cask Strength, etc. Also like the basics like...

U can't go wrong with Laphroaig 10 yr

Super strong and peaty, rich and smoky. $30 a bottle or so. Definitely the cheapest I've seen that gives the full authentic Islay experience. Good luck!

From another thread I posted this. Those who don't like Islay, close your eyes :-)

Quick rundown of Islay (South shore anyway, is there really anything else on Islay?):

Laphroaig 10 yr: by far the best "cheap" whisky; wonderful and savory
Ardbeg 10 yr: disappointing, too...

Ardbeg Supernova 2010 - best Scotch ever? Also, quick rundown of my Islay impressions
