I assume HP is short for Highland Park - I haven't got any experience with the brand, but I will keep it in mind for a later occasion, as I see there are several bottlings available over here. :)

Glenlivet's a good start
I won't claim to be any sort of connoisseur, but I do enjoy a nice scotch. I'd say you've got a good starting point; I've always found Glenlivet to be a good "safe bet" - pleasant flavors, smooth...
