VINTAGE Harvey's scotch help with date
Can someone please help me with dating the years of these bottles?
I was first told that they were before the 70's, because the bottles are using non-metric terms, so perhaps they are from the 50's or 60's. But, someone else told me that these bottles may be from the 30's? Because the bottom of the bottles say "LIQUOR BOTTLE" then next to that word is a 2 digit # "31" (which they said may be the year the bottle was made), but about an inch underneath the 2-digit # is a 5 digit series "17573".
Also, there are Red TAX Stamps across the top of the bottles if it helps one of the numbers is "535986681".
Thank you to anyone who can provide some info. for me.
Any numbers or letters on the bottom of a bottle refer to the manufacture of the bottle and have nothing to do with the age of the bottle, they are normally the number of the bottle mould, where it was made and [usually] the bottle companies name.
Try Diageo for a date as J&R Harvey were owned by Guinness.
