J&B Scotch...Old Bottle....Great Father's Day!
My story is very much like many stories I've read here and centers on an old bottle of scotch. In this case, 1 liter of J&B RARE Blended Scotch Whisky, a most excellent gift from my daughter this past Father's Day.
Naturally, a few questions sprang to mind, and so I was most pleased to find this site while trying to answer them. I read some threads and I'm guessing this baby is about 30 years old, but what do I know?
There is some label damage, and the seal has been abused but not opened.
There is a number on the state tax stamp and another on the seal.
I took pictures but....very much like many stories..
when I click on "insert image" it asks me for a URL
but it let me attach the images...lets see if this works
notes: code on seal : NY - I - 491
number from tax stamp : 000003620
I thought I was being clear
...Ummm...I'm not seeing any responses...
I guess I have to actually state the questions I'd like answered, even though they're the same questions everyone else is asking....so
From the pictures and description, can anyone tell me how old this is?
Also can you tell me if it has worth above and beyond the liters of J&B sitting on the shelf of my local liquor retail establishment?
Could be any time from the 1970's, when they started to use the red cap, but it's difficult to date as the photos are slightly out of focus. As to worth, there's no premium so open and enjoy.
