My Dad's Pinch Bottle
Is it possible to identify the year of bottling from information given on the bottle? My father, born in 1895, was offered a significant sum for a pinch bottle of Haig & Haig, 12 yr. Scotch whiskey with wire wrap, during prohibition, but would not sell it. Apparently, my mother made an ‘issue’ of it, so he would never open it. It lists Renfield Importers of Union, NJ as sole USA Distributors and the tax stamp on one side has the numbers 647544763, and on the other side, 4-I-89. On the bottom of the bottle, in the glass, is Z897.
It has been in my possession and care, since my father’s death in 1958 and I’m considering donating it to a charity raffle but would like to authenticate the year of bottling, if possible, to have some idea for the charity’s opening bid. I do not have a box. Please advise.
