Connoisseurs Choice:Kinclaith distillery
Hello from Scotland, Mouth wateringly good forum you have here!!
I have recently been clearing out the in laws house and came across a few bottles of whisky. The above being one I'd never heard of, I have googled with mixed results and thought I'd share my find :D
Apparently I cannot post pics? Oh well...
What I have is a bottle of the above from Gordon & Macphail, It's a lowland malt distilled in 67 and bottled in 91. It comes in a cream box, though the box is slightly damaged.
I'll be happy to post pics, along with the other bottles which consist of a Chivas Regal 12 year old with alcohol content in proof.
A bottle of Johnnie Walker black label extra special, boxed.
A bottle of Southern Comfort, first bought when it hit these shores apparently. All have been stored/lost for approximately 15-20 years...
I shall now peruse the forum with mouth agape, drooling incessantly...Homer stylee :D
I found one mention of Kinclaith in the 2013 version of The Whisky Bible by Jim Murray.
Kinclaith operated from 1957 to 1975 as a Lowland producer. Its listed as 'closed/dimolished' by Mr. Murray.:(
From Wikipedia : 'The Kinclaith was the last Malt whisky still built in Glasgow, within the Strathclyde Grain distillery complex, in 1958. The Kinclaith distillery was closed in 1975.'
Given the short life span the whisky's are rather rare and are more a collectors item!
Thanks for that, having only just found them I'm still gathering info, little as there is so far!
