Trying to Trace a Bottling of Laphroaig

At a recent whisky event I sampled a bottling of Laphroaig that I've been unable to trace since then.

It was extremely peaty/smokey. It had a man's name next to "Laphroaig" on the label - I think it might have been Jim or Jack something. This name was written in red, and the rest of the label looked different from the standard Laphroaig label, more sparse.

Oh, and the bottle itself wasn't the usual green glass; it was clear.

Does anyone have any idea what this might have been?

Did it look like this?

Murray McDavid

I'm afraid I can't see any image.

Was it something like this:

Take a look through some of these and let us know of the style you saw:

Sadly, I don't recognise it in any of those photographs. I'm sure that the label was almost square, and that the person's name was written in red - and written in a handwriting font rather than how Laphroaig is written.

Any closer?

Maybe one from Jack Wiebers Whisky World:

Or we will have to wait for TheEtherMan to repost his picture.

Do these images work?
If not google Rattray Laphroaig and Murray McDavid Laphroaig

I think it most likely was some Jack Wieber's bottling. It makes sense given that the event was in Zurich and the exhibitors were a mixture of Scottish and German.

It also adds up that I thought it was "Jack something" on the label, and that Jack Wieber's have their own labels (and possibly bottles) which would explain why it didn't look like a Laphroaig bottle.

Which also probably means that it's not something I'll come across easily.

I may well get in contact with them directly.

Thanks for all your help.
