Birthday Scotch
My friend just had a baby boy and i want to buy a special gift for the baby. I would like to buy a scotch I could give him on his 18th birthday. My question is are there any distilleries that sell freshly casked(2013 vintage) scotch that would be matured in 18 years and therefore freshly bottled in 2031?

Not sure that is possible. Usually the whisky needs to sit in a barrel several years before it can be called a whisky and not a spirit. You may have to wait several years to purchase the 2013.
Maybe some of the forum experts will have a better idea. |

Its not too likely a distillery will sell a new made spirit. |
Typically, it’s the independent single malt distillers who do this - so you may want to reach out to them. Or.... keep in mind there will be plenty of fantastic single malt 18yo products on the market... in 18 years time... when the new born comes of age! :)

Might be easier to get something bottled in the birth year
and then hang onto to it until the drinking age is reached. Wouldn't you like to have something that was bottled when you were born?!... :) |
I would wait close to his 18th birthday and then purchase a bottle that with a published in-cask date on his birth year - like the Glenfarclas Family Casks.
You'll get a much better whisky and not having to store it for almost 2 decades! |
