Jura - Superstition
Hi Guys
Does anyone know when this first came to market? Thanks |
It was launched in 2003, I believe, and is a blend of Origin, Diurach's Own and Prophecy. At least I think that to be correct. If someone knows better, I'd like to hear! Jura Origin is (well WAS) my go-to single malt. Love it. But, locally it went up $7 a bottle and is now as expensive if not MORE than some very good 12 year old single malts.

Jura Superstition
We reached out to our Jura contact and here's what we found:
Since the distillery re-opened in 1963, it has produced a very soft Highland style spirit using barley at around 0.5ppm; since 1999, four weeks out of every year is spent making a heavily peated spirit using barley at around 60ppm. Superstition was launched in 2002 and is a marriage of both of these styles, a 7yr old heavily peated whisky with a 13yr and 21yr soft Highland style; this marriage brings the peat level down to 13ppm and it stands at 43% abv. It was the first smoky whisky that Jura bottled and is called Superstition because there is an old superstition on Jura that it is unlucky to cut peat before May, it has 7, 13 and 21yr old whisky in it and has the Ankh on the front of the bottle – an Egyptian symbol for eternal life / the Gaelic for whisky translating as the Water of Life. :) |
Thanks Jojo
You are a star. EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks |
