Value/Dates of Several Bottles I Recently Found
Hi everyone,
I recently found almost 30 bottles of old liquor in my fathers basement. He says he's had them down there for over 25 years and they were old when he recieved them back then. I am having a difficult time finding out much about any of them so I was hoping I could get some help with atleast some of the whisky bottles (Also have several Gins and Wines). All of the bottles are unopened. Some of the whisky bottles include: Highland Queen Grand 15 (86.8 proof), Haig and Haig dimple style (I know its pre 1946 based on the somerset importers label still on it, 86.8 proof), Johnnie Walker Black Label (86.8 proof), Old Schenley (100 proof), and Old Grand-Dad (100 proof). I would really appreciate and help and I will post pictures once I am able to. Brenden |

Apologies about the small pictures. I hope these ones come out better! Also, I attached a picture of the labels there were with the Haig & Haig bottle but no longer attached. Thanks!

bcarn1202,
Interesting collection your have there....I'll see what I can date for you here! The Haig & Haig (3-sided) bottle is definately pre-1950, as the location given still says Edinburgh (only)...1950-51 bottles read "Markinch & Edinburgh", and 1952+ bottles read "Markinch" (only). **I'd need a few more photos in order to clariffy the exact dating, and would be glad to assist you with this. The Highland Queen appears to be late-40's to early-50's, but would need to see clearer photo details to date this more closely. The Johnny Walker dates to between 1943-1955...there is one detail in the tax stamp that I can make out that would help date this further. The Old GrandDad & Old Schenley I'd simply need additional photos of in order to get you a clear dating of, but the stamps are consistant with late-1940's to early 1950's state tax stamps. If you need any more assistance, drop me an email, and I'll get you a clear answer on these for you! Cheers, Walter C Hurst wchurst@hotmail.com |
Walter,
Thank you for the response. I will take several more pictures with better details and email them to you shortly. I appreciate all the insight you have already provided and look forward to any additional info! Brenden |
We just found out that your Johnnie Walker Black Label bottle is dated from the late 1940s and the Haig & Haig bottle is from the same period. :D
