Age and Valuation of Johnnie Walker Black
Hi,
We have unearthed a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label that we think is from the 1960s. We wondered if we could pinpoint its age and get an idea of its worth. The diagonal label says 70 proof 75.7 Cl 26 2/3 FL OZS. There is also a number on the back of the label that can be read through the bottle: 77-1555-15 Any help is greatly appreciated. Happy Christmas! |

Johnnie Walker Black age
Hi, this is a late 1970s bottling - not 1960s. This can be ascertained from the label stating 75.7cl 70 proof 26 2/3 FL OZs. In all likelihood the rear label "77" part refers to 1977 and then is followed by a batch number - so that the distillery can recall bottles if required using this identification number. As to value - Johnnie Walker is the world's largest selling scotch and these bottles are therefore not "rare" even though it is from the 1970s.

From the design of the labels and the closure being used on this bottle of Johnnie Walker Black, the Diageo Archive Department has dated it from the mid 1970s.
