Antique Jck Daniel's Barrel

I got an antique Jack Daniels Barrel from an old neighbor of mine, his wife wanted him to get rid of it due to the semi sour stink that comes from the barrel. I have a multiple part question.
* Does anyone know how or where to find to true age of the barrel?
* Does anyone know the value or where to find the value of a barrel?
* Does anyone know what the sour smell is?
* Does anyone know of a restoration company for antique barrels?

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Cheers

Can you post a picture? I've upgraded your status.

Not the best, but they are what i could get with my phone. I will try to take some better pictures soon. All of the JD logos are branded in, not painted. The only stamp appears to be on the top of the barrel. Noting the name location and llc info.
