Buchanan's Black & White
I have a 1/2 pint bottle of Black & White in perfect condition, unopened but old enough to have a wire seal on the bottle cap. I think it may be something like 60 to 80 years old, as a guess. If anyone can date this from photos, please let me know and I can email photos. Thanks and have a great day!

Hi there, we can have your bottle dated - but need you to photos here on the Whisky.com forum. Now that your account has been approved, you're able to upload images. Let us know if you need help.

H Jojo,
Thanks for the quick reply. Where is the link to upload photos? Or should I upload them somewhere else (like, maybe Photobucket), and post a link on whiskey.com? Regards, Grant |

Black & White 1/2 Pint
Grant,
Hate to beat JoJo to the punch on this one, but your bottle actually dates to between 1967-1968. In 1967 Buchanan's changed the labeling of their Black&White bottles, removing the Royal Warrant info from the Shoulder-label, and incorporating it into the top of the Main-label with a Gold Coat of Arms. In late-1968, the company discontinued the use of Spring-cap closures on Black&White bottles, in lieu of modern Screw-caps. Cheers, Walter C Hurst wchurst@hotmail.com |
Walter, we always welcome your expertise...and straight from Black & White's parent company (their archive department)...they state, "The date given to you on the Whisky.com Forum is correct, the bottle is from the mid to late 1960s."
Chime in any time and Happy Friday :) |
