Looking For A Sea-Salty Scotch
I'm definitely an Islay fan. I'm looking for other scotches (like Lagavulin 16) that not only have a nice peat presence, but a great oceany sea salty nose & taste. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Caol ila
Springbank Laphroaig Talasker Bowmore Some Bruichladdich Less peat, but briney: Old Pulteney Oban I'm sure there are more, but these are off the top of my head. I like a brine note in my whisky. |
As a huge Lagavulin 16 fan I'd highly suggest Ardbeg 10, Ardbeg Uigeadail, Laphroaig 10 and Laphroiag Quarter Cask.
Some of the Bowmore's and Caol Ila bottlings may also do you well. |
I'd add Kilchoman, Benromach Traditional, Dallas Dhu and Jura to the list.

I always found Tobermory to have a sea-salty spray characteristic, but without the peaty notes. That was the first thing I thought of when I read your thread title.
What Islays have you tried? Just Laga 16? That's a fantastic example. Hard to best, really. Ardbeg Uigeadail is one that tops it, in my opinion. |
Look for salty taste ? Go for Clynelish....try also independent bottlings.
