Scotch and Chocolate (aka) British Chocolate

Scotch and Chocolate disaster or perfect marriage.

I just received my monthly stock of chocolate from Scotland and attempted to mix with some of my collection.

Dairy Milk Chocolate + Old Pulteney = Magic the salt and buttery feel mixed with the dairy milk worked perfectly.

Dairy Milk Chocolate + Glenmorangie = Again very nice. Chocolate seemed to take away the alcohol taste and really let you taste the different flavors coming from the scotch.

Dairy Milk Chocolate + Glenlivet = This one did not work at all, flavors changed to a sourness nearly.

Have you had any experience with Chocolate and Scotch, or any other foods with whiskys. Lets hear them, I would love to try and expand my knowledge of foods to accompany my whisky.

At Whiskyfest NY a couple years ago the good folks from Bowmore were pairing their whiskies with dark chocolate. Of course I'd had nearly 50 whiskies by the time I leaned against their table but the combination of the peated malts and the chocolate was bloody gorgeous. And I'm not generally one for such frivolity!
