Holiday Drams?

Season's Greetings, Gang -

What do you drink around the Holidays? Any favorites for the winter months? Anything you've been waiting to open around the Holidays?

Since Christmas dinner at my house is built around grilled filet mignon (a new tradition, and I assure you I will insist it continues), I typically put aside my loyalty for Lowlands in favor of the more powerful Highland Park 18. A few months ago, I picked up a bottle of 18-year Macallan in Duncan Taylor's NC2 range, and this will be making an appearance as well.

I tend toward the richer malts in the colder months anyways, so Macallan, Highland Park, and Spice Tree (a worthy VM) would be on the list regardless of the fare at the dinner table. That said, I've had a John McDougall bottling of cask-strength Bladnoch sitting around, and Christmas might give just the occasion to crack it open.

Cheers, and all the best over the Holidays!

Your new Christmas tradition sounds absolutely perfect! Macallan Cask Strength is a favorite around here during the holidays. I noticed a few of what appears to be bottles of scotch under the Christmas tree, so definitely looking forward to seeing what it's all about. I agree with you on richer malts in the colder months - it just makes sense. Enjoy & Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!
