Just picked up a bottle of springbank 10 100 proof

I am new to scotch but not new to whisky. I have been drinking bourbon for a long time and just wanted to try something different. I picked up the springbank 10 year old 100 proof and was just wondering anyones thoughts on it? Good for my whisky collection?

I love this whisky! The 100 proof bottling versus the same 10 at 92 proof is wholly worth the extra $5 a bottle, though the latter is very good too. The complexity of this whisky just grows and grows. You'll get a gently peaty tang on the nose and palate. It is so understated but gives such backbone it just gets better and better. That plus a lovely salty brine and on and on. There's just so much going on it's had to describe.

Assuming you'll love it, I'd guide you to Glenturret 11 G&M bottling, Highland Park 12 as some similarly interesting drams. The latter here is big and beefy and not quite as elegant as the Springbank, IMHO. The Glenturret begs for a few drops of water to open up a bit, or a few days opened, and turns out to be a pretty remarkable drink.

Anyway, enjoy this great whisky - one of the best proprietary bottlings out there.
