Johnnie Walker Red

Can anyone please give me some more information about this bottle of Red Label?

I guess it's post 1936 as the label states 'By appointment to the late King George V'. It does have some 'solids' floating about when shaken but is perfectly clear.

The bottom of the bottle has the letters JW with 124A1(orAI) beneath. All other details should be apparent from the photos.

So is it drinkable? Does it have any collectible value?

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give.

Johnnie Walker Red Label - 1936 - 1940

Thanks for that, Jojo. Orla McCartney from Diageo has contacted me directly & we are now considering putting it in the next whisky auction with Bonhams in Edinburgh.

We live in Kent UK & are - coincidentally - visiting family in Inverness in a few weeks time. As our route takes us via the Edinburgh ring road anyway, it would appear to make sense for us to drop the bottle off at the auctioneers on our way north, so things seem to be working out quite nicely. Almost like it was just meant to happen :D

Thanks again for your help.

Great! If you could keep us posted on how it all goes, we will certainly appreciate it! Safe travels and all the best! Jojo :D

1940's bottle of JW Red

I have found an un opened bottle of JW Red in my grandparents house, and it has a Missouri Liquor tax stamp on it. From the secretary of Treas. name on the stamp I have dated the bottle to the early 40's (1941-1945) are the dates this treasurer served. We are just wondering if this unopened bottle has any value to it. It is missing the front label that runs across the middle of the bottle. Some of the other labels are dirty and bent on the edges, but still in tact. Let us know your thoughts.
