30+ year old Single Malt Scotch bottled in Canada
 

I recently came by a bottle of 30+ year old Single Malt that was bottled by the Liquor Control Board of Ontario. Has anyone seen this type of Whisky and can you tell me who the distiller was; and finally, is it worth something.

Afraid I can not help with the origins of your bottle but it is worth noting that as of next year it will be irreplacable as the law is changing to make the export of Scotch in anything other than retail ready bottles illegal. Hence there will be no Scotch whisky bottled anywhere other than in Scotland.

If I recall correctly, there was a time when bulk whisky was shipped to Canada and bottled here. It was still distilled in Scotland.

It's kind of blurry , but if you can llok at the bottom of the lable it says "Product of Scotland" .

This was a bottling for the LCBO ( Liquor Control Board of Ontario ) by a producer in Scotland , it was not produced in Canada .

I don't know where you got the 30+YO Single Malt from [unless there's a back label which I doubt] as there's nothing stating that on the front label, it doesn't even state that it's a blend. I agree with Darko that, for at least 40 years that I know of, the LCBO has imported both "Bottled in Scotland" under their own label and bought bulk to bottle in Ontario.
On another point the change in the law means that it's Single Malt that can only be bottled in the UK [England as well as Scotland], blended whisky can be still bottled anywhere in the world.

Well, I played with the picture a bit with photoshop, and from what I can see, it looks like on the bottom left of the label (under the 750ml) it says "Imported by the LCBO"

This leads me to think that it would be most likely a fairly generic blend that was shipped from Scotland in bulk for the LCBO. This could have been done by any of the big blenders, Chivas, Whyte & McKay, Cutty Sark, Bell's etc.

Bulk spirits
 

I do remeber that the LCBO dabbled with their own brand labels buying bulk spirits from Europe and slapping their names label on it. Speaking to the old spirit makers the LCBO bought as cheaply as they could get;(this will probably indicate that you won't be too impressed with the contents)
The reason they tried this was during the hype years when the government was planning to allow the sale of spirits at your local grocer.(Which never happened but maybe should). Not just Scotch was bottled, they dabbled in whisky's and I believe they did one the was a Brandy.
