Rare Bottle Of Old Parr??

My sister-in-law is in possesion of a bottle of Grand Old Parr Scotch Whisky that does not have a aged year on it. Instead, in place of that the words listed in that spot say: Real Antique and Rare Old. The very bottom of the label reads as follows: 75cl Gay Lussac 43 followed by a degree symbol. This seems to be a rare bottle and I wondered if you had any information or pricing on it. Thank you for your help

shaleen32 - Please post pictures of your Old Parr. Be sure to get a close-up and clear shot of the label. Also include a photo of the whole bottle and closure. If you need help with posting the pix, let me know!

My grandfather has a bottle with this tag on it. It states that it is aged 152 years and considering it was given to him in the 50s that makes for a bottle of old scotch. Any idea on its worth?

msranch- got the pic - thanks! Try and post another showing the closure. Also, as mentioned in my PM to you, we will try to date it. As for value, try contacting Martin Green at Bonham's - martin.green (at) bonhams.com or try Kovels.com

Happy New Year!

My dad recieved a bottle of old parr, and it looks really old! I could barely see the seal and read the brand. It suposed to be from the 1920's, when the prohibition law came up...What you think?

No Old Parr is 152 years old. It's supposedly that Thomas Parr the inventor lived 152 years. ;)

Thomas Parr aged 152 years brown and white crock bottle

Hi,

I recently acquired a Thomas Parr aged 152 years brown and white crock bottle. On the bottom of the bottle it says Liquor bottle Scotland. Can you tell me anything about this bottle, ie: age, approximate worth ? The bottle is empty and in very good condition.
The top is brown with a cork stopper and handle, half way it turns to off white

thanks
Debbie

Debbie - we can have your bottle dated, but will need photos. Please post your pix and be sure to include a close up of the label (so we can read it) as well as one of the closure. As for the "152" you're seeing, it's not aged 152 years, it's legend that Old Parr was Britain's oldest man living up to the (very) ripe old age of 152. And....apparently got married for the second time at the age of 122! However, some say his records were confused with his grandfather's, but regardless, the legend lives on....

Regarding the value, once the age is determined, you can check past auctions at McTears.com - or have them or Bonhams.com determine a value (a small fee may be involved). If you're in the US, contact Park Avenue Liquors (212-685-2442) or the Brandy Library (212-226-5545) - both do valuations.
