Which to Buy?
Hi all, i'm trying to decide on which of these bottles to buy my boss for xmas. any opinions?
The Black Grouse Glen Parker single malt MCCLELLAND SINGLE MALT TÉ BHEAG SCOTCH WHISKY BUSHMILLS BLACK BUSH |
For the same money you can get a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black. It's nothing special, but I would rather have that. McClelland's has not been positively reviewed from what I have seen. I'm not familiar with the others. Maybe there's a hidden gem in there? How about Chivas Regal?

JWB and CR are over $40. i want to spend less than that.

I got a bottle of Chivas Regal 12 the other day for $29.99. My mother likes it, so I keep a bottle around. I've had worse. Give one of the single malts a try. I think the Mcclellands are 5 years old. I suppose I would rather have the "youthful edginess" than an inexpensive blend with their harsh grain. Sometimes I prefer the younger version of single malts. Ie HP 12 > 18. Depends on the mood. Have you tried the McC or Glen Parker. Worst case scenario, he puts it into cocktails with a lot of ice. It's a good gift.:)

Te Bheag
I had never heard if Te Bheag whisky before so I looked it up. It got a good review from one of the lads over at another forum. I won't lift the whole note, as it's not mine, but this was the conclusion.
Comment: Given its provenance it would be no surprise to find Talisker in this, but given its flavours it would be amazing to find that it does not comprise much of the malt component here. Really good whisky, both with and without water, but quite different either way. This is terrific stuff for the price. I like it very much. Maybe this is the way to go! http://67.43.1.1/images/smilies/cheers.gif |
yes i bought a bottle of this a few years ago. obviously not the best, but its very good for the price. I just might buy this one. thanks
