VAT69--Remember?

Does anyone remember VAT 69? It was very popular in the 60's. Is it still around? Is it any good?

Yes, VAT 69 is still around. Interestingly, VAT 69 bottles two versions; one for the British market and one for the export market. The bottling for the British market is the big brother of the two with more complexity and a higher malt content ( ~35% ). The export version contains considerably less malt with much less complexity and taste. Why two different bottlings? Not sure; but possibly malt stocks? In any event, the primary malts are with the heart of this blend being CLYNELISH, followed by LINKWOOD, DAILUAINE ( Pronounced DAL-YOO-AYN ) and TEANINICH ( Pronounced CHEE-AN-IN-ICK )

Not to hijack the post, but it's on topic..
Cleaning out my in-laws house, I saved a few old liquor bottles.
One is a bottle of Vat69 Gold, globetrotter fifth.
The tax stamp is intact/untorn, but the side edge of the cap is cracked.
It doesn't appear to have leaked ever, and the whiskey is still clear.
If this the same as the prior mentioned Vat69, I'll assume this is the export version because it has 'Munson Shaw Imports' markings. Any idea of the vintage on this?
Is this worth anything? Is it any good to drink or just keep on the shelf as a neat old bottle?

I used to get Vat69 from the local bottle shop. This goes back many years now and I was much younger, less discerning and possessed limited finances. This stuff was quite cheap in Australia at the time and quite frankly pretty horrible. Me and the lads had some horrific hangovers due to this stuff!

Band of Brothers reminded me of Vat 69 with Capt. Nixon having some close by most of the time :D My father has a large black Vat 69 cigar type ashtray he has had since the 60's .
