Teachers Highland Cream circa 1913?
 

Hi,

I have discovered this bottle in a cupboard at my late father's house. It is of the 'Self Opening Bottle' variety. From the Teachers site I believe it to be from the 1913 or 1932 eras. As you can see, I have not even cleaned up the bottle yet.

Should / can I drink it? Or does it have some value and is therefore best kept hidden away?

This dates from the late 1920's through to possibly the 50's, I'll check this for you and post what I find. As such does have some value but as a blend I doubt that it carries a great value. Try McTears in Glasgow for a value, they also have a whisky auction on the 5th May so they may include it in the sale if you want.

I've checked and, although this style of label was first started to be used in 1926, the version with 70 proof was only introduced into the UK around 1960.

Thank you for taking the trouble to investigate this for me. I was quite excited at the prospect that it may have been almost 100 years old. Maybe I shall hide it away and let my descendants discover it again!

Sorry to disappoint you but I was lucky enough to get photos and dates of all the Teachers bottles starting around 1870/80 from one of the family.
