30 Year Scotch for 30 Year old Son - Recommendations?

My son turns 30 in July and we would like to buy him a bottle of 30 year old single malt. I don't know the fist thing and would like any light you could shed on the subject.

Thanks!

Single malt's always very personal as to what is liked or not so it would be difficult to suggest a malt but there are a couple of very good 30yo blends on sale and, as blends of that age are always top quality, your son may like one of them better. If he does drink malt then find out what type he likes [look at his bar] and see if they have a 30yo that he has in his bar for sale.

30yo recommendation

I would highly recommend the 30yo Highland Park. It's pricey (around 200GBP), but wonderful. I attended a HP masterclass at Whisky Live in Toronto in October, and tasted the 15, 18, 25, 30, and 40yo's. The 30 was perfection.

30 year old Scotches

kimb, there are a lot of 30 year scotches out there...what is your son's taste? And what's your budget? For starters....The Glenfiddich 30yr is a fantastic dram and costs about $300 – $350 USD.
