Father-in-laws gifts!
 

Hello all,

I'm looking for a little advice as recently my father in law to be decided to have a clear out of his booze cupboard and gifted me a couple of his 'collectable' whiskies.:D I swiftly polished off a couple of them, a rather nice Bowmore and a 100 Pipers blend. Both did the job nicely but the Bowmore rekindled my desire for malt spirits!

But before I drink all the other bottles I thought I should at least find out if I was drinking the future family heirlooms. Below is a list of what is left .....

Glenlivet 12 Year Old 75cl

Glenfiddich Clan Sinclair 70cl
Glenfiddich Clan Stewart 70cl
Glenfiddich Clan Montgomerie 75cl
Glenfiddich Clan Drummond 75cl

Glenfiddich Special Old Reserve 1l x2

Glenfiddich Clan Southerland 5cl
Glenfiddich Clan Sinclair 5cl
Glenfiddich Clan Montgomerie 5cl
Glenfiddich Clan Murray 5cl

Bushmills 75cl
Blackbush 75cl

I have some pictures of the bottles, tubes, tins and such like. Unfortunately I haven't pictures of the Glenfiddich clan Sinclair at the moment as the wife has this hidden so I don't drink it!!

Are any of these present/future collectables? or should I just start enjoying these with friends over the Christmas period :)

Bryan - It looks like you have part of the Glenfiddich 'Clans of the Highlands' collection This collection was produced in the late 80s and early 90s and twelve different clans were featurued in this series. There's a chance I may be able to find out an idea of a value on what you have - will check and get back to you. As for your Glenlivet, Bushmills and Blackbush - I don't think these would fetch high values - do you know how old they are? If you still want a value on them, try mctears.com or bonhams.com

As for the other bottles, I can't honestly give an accurate date of purchase. My father-in-law simply cant remember! Too many late nights me thinks :)

He did say most of the bottles would have been purchased in the 80's and early 90's as he had a spell of going on a few organised brewery and distillery tours. This was also around the time he started travelling to Europe and the USA. So I guess this all makes sense.

I have tried posting the pictures but am finding a bit difficult to reduce the size to something acceptable. I'll try some more over the christmas break.
