View Full Version : Recommendation for Highland Park/ Bunnahabhain drinker?

I'm looking for any experienced recommendations for a fan of Highland Park 12 Bunnahabhain 12 looking for a decent 18 year old.
I'm in the states, and headed to Cask in San Francisco tomorrow trying to get a decent 18 year old Scotch for $100 or less.
I like sweet and character rich, with a medium amount of peat.

EDIT: I would ameliorate the above to say a 15 year old is fine, as I'm sure to be hard pressed to find a decent single malt Scotch under 100.
The idea is that I get out of the 12 year neighborhood, and that I like the medium sweetness and brininess of Highland Park and Bunnahabhain.

Try the Isle of Jura 16 year old. Should be under your price and I believe is an excellent whisky for what you want

Caol Ila 18, or Cask Strength, if you can find it.
Uh, what about Highland Park 18? One of my favorite 18 year olds and you should be about to find it for around $100 in SF.

HP 18 all day at $92.00. The most everything to everybody scotch I've ever had.

I had some Highland Park 12 for a while last fall and don't remember much about it, but three strong recommendations in a row can't be ignored. On the search for the 18 this summer.

The two OBVIOUS choices that jump to mind are HIGHLAND PARK 18, which is one of my all-time favorites in that price-point, and BUNNAHABHAIN 18, which is a very highly regarded whisky (also under $100).
