I just recently picked up a bottle of this that had been sitting on the store's little classic malts display stand (this is the only reason there was any left at all, as people had assumed it was just for display).

It is 1996/2012, number 4/500.
When you look up the 1996, for some reason this is the same bottle that pops up in most pictures of it online. I'm not sure how it made its way to Norman, Oklahoma but it did.

My question is this: is this a bottle I should be saving back or is it something I should crack open and enjoy? I keep wavering between the two, as I've never had Lagavulin before. I've heard it's got a good bit of sherry, which would be good for me, but at the same time I don't have a huge taste for Islay so may not appreciate it as much as a scotch drinker who does.
