The Antiquary and Chivas Regal

Good evening,
I have just joined this site with the hope of finding out some more information about 2 bottles of Scotch Whisky that my late Father left me 10 years ago.
Back in 1976, my father made some enquiries about the 2 bottles and came up with the following information.
The large bottle of the Antiquary was supplied on a private basis to Sir Winston Churchill. Unfortunately, it appears the contents have suffered as the Whisky is slightly cloudy now maybe due to cork contamination.
The bottle of Chivas Regal shows no signs of contamination but unfortunately most of the label has gone. Apparently it was bottled just after the First World War with 25 year old Whisky! Making the contents well over 100 years old!
I do have the original documents giving the history of the bottles in my possession. I will be happy to submit pictures if anyone is interested.
Does anyone have any idea of the value of these two bottles?

Hi,
Here are the 2 bottles. As you can see, the bottle of Antiquary has evaporated quite a bit and the contents are quite cloudy.

The Chival Regal looks clear but most of the label is gone. The small part of the label on the neck says "pre" something??.

Anyone ideas of value?

The pre-war strength on the label refers to CR 25 being produced after WWI -whisky strength was reduced during the war and CR wanted to show that their whisky was the way it was before the war. I cannot access the photos but would be interested in seeing the CR bottle

I can now see the photos. Thanks. Yes, the labelling is pretty well gone. If you are interested in a value, you can google Bonhams or Mctears whisky auctions and they can give you a free evaluation. We may be interested in the bottle for the Chivas Brothers archive, but due to the label condition, it looses its heritage appeal. Let me know how you make out on the evaluation.

Hi Chris,

McTears came back to me with a valuation of £180-£220. After a few more detailed photos they were able to establish that the bottle itself was quite roughly made and dates back to the early 20th century. Such a shame that the label has virtually gone. Never mind. At least I know I own a little bit of WW1 era history and some whisky that is 100 plus years old!!!
