Hiya chaps.
I've been asked to sell a couple of old bottles of whisky which would be a doddle if they were the common brands but I can't find anything at all on them.
They were from the private stocks of a scots motor trader and were issued to various corporate bigwigs around the end of the 1950s.
Bottled in 1933 and kept in wood for over 26 years.
The thing is, for all I know they could just be corporate jungle juice.
(...maybe I should crack one open, splash in some coke and see if it tastes nice...)
I'll try and post a picture up.
The numbering is:
ROTN.NO. HC196044 BIN NO 86
So my question is:
Does anyone have any info on something like this?
I'm guessing that it's malt but maybe it's a 26 y.o. blend??
eekster - Unfortunately I do not have information on this one. Send this information along with the photo to either bonhams.com or mctears.com And PLEASE come back here and let us know what they tell you. Good luck!

I live in Edinburgh and bonhams are doing an auction around November so they will be my next port of call.
A bit difficult to imagine that it was distilled when Hitler came to power, which is going back a fair bit now.
Strange that there's no malt/blend distinction though, makes me go hmmmm.

I got a reply from the auctioneers. :)
This is infact a blend, the condition is very good from what I can see
in the photographs. In todays market I would estimate GBP £300-500.
eekster - THANK YOU for letting us know the value given! So what's your plan with your bottle of 1933 House of Macdonald?

It's actually two bottles.
They're in the upcoming Bonhams auction if anyone is interested.

we have a bottle from the private stock of Henry Clayton, esq
the bottle was given to us in 1972 - in London - in the office of the attorney
we were investigating the possibility of trading Scotch Whiskey as a commodity.
my husband and his business partner (and we the wives) took one week in the Scotland lowlands and highlands and were proud of our bottle of scotch
it has never been opened - still sealed and dusty - my husband has a terminal illness of Huntington's Disease and we are scraping to make ends meet.
if there is any real value to this bottle - we are done waiting for a "special occasion"!!!!
