I'm hoping you can help me date my unopened bottle of Black & White scotch. Any information will be greatly appreciated! I'll try to attach pics here:

It looks like my pics didn't come through. I'll try again later. The main clue I have is that the labels read "by appointment to the late King George V" who died in 1932.

Correction: King George V died in 1936.

Your bottle of Black & White appears to be from the 1930s. :)

Thank you Jo! I have heard from the gentleman that you forwarded my info to, and his conclusion was that it is from the late 1930's. Apparently it is fairly rare as well, as they have nothing like it in their 10,000 bottle collection! An auction house has valued it around $500. I appreciate all your help!

Slade,

I can confirm that this is late 1936...it's a special production bottle issued after the
death of King George V, and was appearantly only produced for a single production
run: Your US Tax Stamp is dated 1936 (36-).

(I've only seen 1 other like it in 12+ years...yours is in better condition, if a little lower
on the fill level.)

Cheers.
Walter

Thank you for the info Walter! Very good to know. Would you say the value I was given is accurate? The expert had no idea of the age of the bottle and seemed to be guessing off the top of his head.

Slade,

$500 would be about right for the condition & fill-level of this bottle...Similar condition 1930's bottles of blended Scotch sell for about this amount.

I'd love to add it to my collection myself :-)

Cheers,
Walter
